Sea Otter has added a critereium to this year’s schedule and 27 women lined up to race the newest Sea Otter event. Coryn Rivera was among the women lining up, but instead of her old Metro Volkswagen kit, she was in a new Proman kit. Proman has made a new commitment to fostering junior racers, as discussed here, so it wasn’t too terribly surprising to see Coryn, a multidisiplinary national champion, in their kit.
The crit started off pretty calm but about halfway through, Coryn Rivera (Proman) rode off the front of the group. Rivera was soon joined by Kelly Benjamin (Colavita Sutter Home), Joanne Kiesanowski (TIBCO), Liza Rachetto (Sucar CRM), Jenn Halladay (Bob’s Bicycles), and Kathryn Donovan (Kahala LaGrange). The six women worked well together and were able to hold of the main field.
Kelly Benjamin (Colavita Sutter Home) took the win over Joanne Kiesanowski (Tibco) and Coryn Rivera (Proman).
